A little slice of heaven (or Philadelphia) has landed in the Bay Area in the form of Amato’s.

The original location of Brazil Cafe, located 1 block from the UC Berkeley Campus, is a cute little hut/stand that features a variety of sandwiches, smoothies, breads and pastries. The lively atmosphere with Brazilian music and Pedro Robin, the East Bay’s friendliest owner/host, making your dining experience that much better.

Hidden away in the Sather Gate Garage Mall is Cheese’N’Stuff, home to some of the best sandwiches in Berkeley. The menu isn’t too complex, but all of it is tasty and fresh. Order one of their delicious sandwiches with incredibly fresh cold cuts and veggies and head to the register where Sam is always there to greet you with a smile.

Located only a block from campus, this inexpensive little jewel prepares delicious Mediterranean specialties with tender chunks and slices of meat that will thrill the masses for years to come.

Edoko is a Japanese Buffet and Sushi Bar that was voted Honorable Mention in the Daily Cal’s Best of Berkeley.

Awarded Best Pizza by the East Bay Express and the SF Weekly, this fun and casual restaurant encompasses everything you could possibly dream of in a pizzeria. Along with traditional pizzas, Extreme also offers award winning specialty pizzas made fresh for every order.

Located on famed Telegraph Ave and only one block from campus, Fat Slice offers a huge slice of fresh, hot and delicious pizza for two dollars and some change- a great bang for the buck!

Grub-n-Go operates under the motto, “Gourmet nice without the gourmet price!” This quaint sandwich shop, located next door to Walgreens’ in downtown Berkeley, close to Cal and only a couple of blocks from Berkeley High School and Berkeley City College, features an array of gourmet sandwiches, fresh salads, baked potatoes, party platters, snacks, drinks and desserts.

Only one block from campus in the Blue Sky Hotel is House of Curries, an authentic Indian restaurant offering both Pakistani & Indian Cuisine.

At Kips, the full bar serves a dazzling assortment of beer including 15 in bottles and 24 on tap, hosts all the major sporting events on their 15 TV’s including a plasma big screen, and packs ‘em in for karaoke nights Wed & Sun and for live DJs Tu, Th-Su. They have Happy Hour daily from 5pm-9pm with drink specials. The food––mainly pizza, sandwiches, salads and burgers grilled anyway which way you like, offers something for everyone.

La Burrita has been voted the best burrito in town- like a million years in a row. In addition, they make delicious enchiladas, tacos, salsa and nachos.

La Note lives up to its reputation as one of the East Bay’s best and most popular restaurants. The decor is very nice, including a beautiful garden patio that is usually open during the day. However, the biggest reason that for over 10 years this restaurant has been packing them in, is the food.

Berkeley’s oldest pizza parlor is now among Berkeley’s very best. Their hand-tossed crust is fantastic. If you believe that a quality pizza begins and ends with the crust, or if you consider yourself a pizza connoisseur then should go to LaVal’s on the northside of campus & give them a try.

Musashi is a charming little sushi place with delicious sushi that simply shouldn’t be missed.

With seating for 200 people, Pepe’s Pizza, Pasta & Buffet is a spacious addition to the Berkeley dining scene that brings something not usually seen near the Cal campus: an all-you-can-eat-buffet!

Located in North Berkeley’s Gourmet Ghetto at the Epicurious Garden, Soop is a wonderful addition to the Berkeley culinary experience. Soop creates 10 ever-changing handcrafted soups, stews, chowders, chilis and pasta sauces made fresh daily using their own homemade stocks and organic ingredients.

Located only 1 block from the Cal Campus, downstairs from Kip’s is Sun Hong Kong. The newly remodeled restaurant has a full Hong Kong-style Chinese menu and a full American menu all in one. The Chinese menu features a variety of dishes including traditional entreés, rice plates, sizzling platters, curry dishes, clay pots and noodle soups. The American menu has everything- burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, pasta dishes, omelets, appetizers, huge salads, soups and more.

West Coast Pizza has some of Berkeley’s most popular pizza. They offer a good variety of toppings and some specialty pizzas to choose from, including the Spicy Chicken Pizza with chicken, Louisiana hot pepper sauce, onions, red bell peppers and jalapeños. Besides pizza, they sell hot wings by the pound, salads, & their famous garlic cheesebread. West Coast delivers and is open later than most places.
