La Note lives up to its reputation as one of the East Bay’s best and most popular restaurants. The decor is very nice, including a beautiful garden patio that is usually open during the day. However, the biggest reason that for over 10 years this restaurant has been packing them in, is the food. They’ve added new items to the menu, but the favorites still remain. The breakfasts include oatmeal raspberry pancakes and cote nord, which is 2 eggs scrambled with cream cheese or goat cheese. The lunch features an array of salads and sandwiches, the best of which is the Merguez, a spicy lamb sausage, with sun dried tomato pesto on French baguette. Dinner offers traditional and Provencal styles of French cuisine including their savory Bouillabaisse, Ratatouille and some spectacular seafood dishes. Top any meal off with one of their signature desserts, especially the Fondant au Chocolat, which was the highlight of the meal. They also provide catering services and can host most special events––ideal for the outdoor patio.
