Moe’s Books

Located a couple of blocks from the UC Berkeley campus, Moe’s Books is four floors of bibliophilic bliss, hundreds of thousands of new and used titles including an entire level devoted to rare and out-of-print books. For over 50 years, since the dawn of the Beatnik Era, collectors have been coming to Moe’s store first, which has been called the “yeastiest center of intellectual ferment” in Berkeley. Moe’s Books has managed to become more than just a great bookstore- it has achieved the rarified status of a beloved landmark institution that has managed to mirror the often turbulent and triumphant times that have come to epitomize all that is exciting and unique about Berkeley. They have a knowledgeable & helpful staff that will help find whatever you need. The employees range from UC students to moonlighting authors, and they are the finest attribute of the store which has many.

Always looking to increase their ever changing stock, they buy books for cash or trade. They don’t buy everything including old textbooks, most books that are highlighted, marked up or in poor condition. They also may not buy a book they have too many copies of and don’t need more. If you’re unsure as to what qualifies under those categories, bring it in and they’ll tell you what you they think.

• Daily 10am-10pm.
